Marium Fatima Becomes Bihar's First Woman FIDE Master.

In a groundbreaking achievement for Bihar, Marium Fatima from Muzaffarpur has become the state's first-ever Woman FIDE Master (WFM) in chess. At just 19 years old, she surpassed the 2000 Elo rating mark at the Commonwealth Chess Championship, earning her this prestigious title.


      - Marium's accomplishment is a first in the 40-year sporting history of Muzaffarpur, marking a significant achievement for the district.

      - With a FIDE rating of 2083, Marium stands among India's promising young chess talents.

     

Main Point :-   (i) Her accolades include winning the 12th National Women's Amateur Elo Rating Chess Competition, the Bihar State Women's FIDE Rating Chess Competition 2025, and the Bihar State Women's Chess Championship in 2022.

      (ii) Marium's journey began in class 3 at St. Xavier's Kindergarten in Muzaffarpur. Her father, Imtayaz Ahmad, a former chess enthusiast, supported her passion by facilitating her training sessions in Patna, showcasing a strong family commitment to her chess career.
