Ajay Singh Elected as BFI President for Third Consecutive Term Amid Delayed Elections and Legal Disputes.
Appointment
Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of SpiceJet, has been recently re-elected as the President of the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) for the third consecutive term. His re-election strengthens continuity in BFI’s leadership and comes at a critical time when Indian boxing is preparing for upcoming global tournaments.
- Ajay Singh’s re-election took place in August 2025, during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Boxing Federation of India held in New Delhi. The elections were conducted under the supervision of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, ensuring transparency and compliance with the National Sports Development Code of India, 2011.
- This marks Singh’s third tenure since he first assumed charge in 2016, followed by his re-election in 2020. Under his leadership, the BFI has expanded its international presence, including India hosting the AIBA (International Boxing Association) Women’s World Boxing Championship in 2018 and the IBA (International Boxing Association) Men’s World Championships bid process in 2023.
