Supreme Court appoints sign-language interpreter to help hearing-impaired persons

Chief Justice of India (CJI) D.Y. Chandrachud on October 6 announced the appointment of a sign language interpreter by the Supreme Court to help hearing-impaired lawyers and litigants understand judicial proceedings. โToday, we have an interpreter who has been appointed by the Supreme Court,โ the CJI said, beginning the proceedings. "This is a historic moment," said a lawyer. The CJI said he wanted to appoint a sign language interpreter for this.
