TASL and Airbus to Establish India’s First Private Final Assembly Line in Vemagal, Karnataka

On October 1, 2025, Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) and Airbus announced the establishment of India’s first private-sector Final Assembly Line (FAL) in Vemagal, Karnataka, to manufacture the Airbus H125 helicopter. The initiative marks a key milestone in strengthening India’s indigenous aerospace manufacturing capabilities.


      - The new assembly line will be located in the Vemagal Industrial Area and will include Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facilities along with helipads for final testing. It represents Airbus’ second assembly collaboration with TASL after the C295 aircraft plant in Vadodara, Gujarat.

      - The production at the Vemagal facility is expected to begin in 2026, with the first India-assembled Airbus H125 helicopter scheduled for delivery in 2027, showcasing India’s growing self-reliance in aerospace manufacturing.

     

Main Point :-   (i) The plant will cater to both domestic and international markets across South Asia, manufacturing the single-engine H125 helicopter known for its versatility in civil aviation, disaster management, police operations, and high-altitude missions.

      (ii) The project aligns with the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, promoting indigenous manufacturing, enhancing defense capabilities, and reducing dependence on foreign imports in the aerospace sector.
