Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Launches ‘NIELIT Digital University’ to Boost Digital Educatiom and Inaugurates 5 New NIELIT Centres Across India.

On October 2, 2025, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and Ministry of Railways (MoR), launched the ‘NIELIT Digital University (NDU)’ in New Delhi, Delhi. The initiative aims to expand access to quality education in advanced digital technologies across India.
- The NIELIT Digital University (NDU), operated by the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), is designed as a comprehensive online platform for advanced technology education, focusing on digital inclusion and nationwide skill enhancement.
- During the launch event, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw virtually inaugurated five new NIELIT Centres in Muzaffarpur (Bihar), Balasore (Odisha), Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh), Daman (Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu), and Lunglei (Mizoram), expanding the institute’s regional reach.
- NIELIT signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with major organizations, including Microsoft for digital education technologies, Zscaler for cybersecurity programs, Dixon Technologies for electronics manufacturing training, CCRYN for integrating yoga and technology, and Future Crime for cybercrime education.
Main Point :- (i) The NDU aims to democratize access to high-quality, industry-relevant education in cutting-edge areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, cloud computing, and electronics manufacturing, aligning with India’s Digital India and Skill India initiatives.
(ii) A panel discussion followed the launch on the theme “Role of AI in Digitalization of Education,” focusing on how Artificial Intelligence can transform learning methodologies, improve access, and build future-ready digital skills in India.
