PM Modi Attends RSS 100th Year Celebration and Unveils Rs.100 Coin & Stamp Featuring Bharat Mata.

On October 1, 2025, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi attended the centenary celebration of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as the Chief Guest at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. The occasion marked the unveiling of a special Rs.100 commemorative coin and postage stamp, both released to honour the 100-year journey of the RSS and symbolizing Bharat Mataās image on Indian currency for the first time.
- The grand event commemorated 100 years of the RSS, a milestone marking its contributions to Indiaās socio-cultural and national development. PM Narendra Modi, as the Chief Guest, praised the RSS for its century-long service in promoting unity, patriotism, and nation-building rooted in Indian culture and values.
- A Rs.100 commemorative coin was officially released during the event. The coin, made of 99.9% silver, weighs 40 grams and has a diameter of 44 millimeters with 200 serrations. Its obverse features the Lion Capital of Ashoka, while the reverse portrays Bharat Mata in Varada Mudra (gesture of blessing), seated on a lotus with a lion beside herāmarking the first-ever depiction of Bharat Mata on an Indian coin.
- Alongside the coin, a commemorative postage stamp was launched depicting RSS swayamsevaks participating in the 1963 Republic Day Parade. The stamp symbolizes the RSSās historical commitment to national service, discipline, and patriotic spirit throughout Indiaās post-independence journey.
Main Point :- (i) The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh was founded on September 27, 1925, in Nagpur, Maharashtra, by Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar (Dr. K.B. Hedgewar). Established as a volunteer-based organization, its mission was to foster Hindutva (Hindu cultural nationalism), social unity, and discipline among the Hindu community while nurturing the idea of a self-reliant and culturally proud India.
(ii) Over the decades, RSS played a crucial role in social reform and relief activities during Indiaās freedom struggle and post-independence reconstruction. It gradually expanded its work into education, healthcare, and cultural sectors, pursuing its guiding vision of āSarvangeena Unnatiāāmeaning the all-round development of the nation.
