Union Minister Prahlad Joshi, overseeing the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (MoCAF&PD), along with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, inaugurated the All India Induction Furnaces Association (AIIFA) Steelex 2025, also known as Steel Mahakumbh, and the 37th National Conference on Sustainable Steel at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, Maharashtra, emphasizing sustainable growth in India’s steel sector.


      - AIIFA Steelex 2025, themed "A STEEL MAHAKUMBH One Industry, One Destination," was held from September 19 to 20, 2025, focusing on uniting the steel industry under sustainable and modern practices.

      - The event was organized by the AIIFA Sustainable Steel Manufacturers Association with SMAM, supported by the Ministry of Steel (MoS) and UNDP, highlighting government and international backing for sustainable steel.

     

Main Point :-   (i) During the inauguration, Union Minister Prahlad Joshi and CM Devendra Fadnavis unveiled the Green Certificate for sustainable steel practices and the official event souvenir, promoting recognition of environmentally responsible steel production.

      (ii) Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis announced plans to develop Gadchiroli as India’s new steel city, focusing on large-scale industrial investments, infrastructure development, and community-centered initiatives to boost regional economic growth.

(iii) The Government of Maharashtra signed nine Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth Rs. 80,962 crores for diverse industrial projects, reinforcing the state’s commitment to expanding its steel sector and creating employment opportunities.
