IPC Inaugurates 5th National Pharmacovigilance Week in New Delhi.

The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), functioning under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), inaugurated the 5th National Pharmacovigilance Week (NPW) on September 17, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The observance continues till September 23, 2025.


      - The 5th edition of the National Pharmacovigilance Week (NPW) is observed from September 17โ€“23, 2025. The campaign is aimed at spreading awareness on the importance of reporting Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) among healthcare professionals, regulators, researchers, and the public.

      - The 2025 NPW is organised under the theme โ€œYour Safety, just a Click Away: Report to PvPI.โ€ IPC, acting as the National Coordination Centre for the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (NCC-PvPI), is leading this initiative to highlight simplified digital platforms for ADR reporting.

     

Main Point :-   (i) The event introduced a series of new initiatives, including a short film on the PvPI, a multilingual pharmacovigilance comic to enhance public awareness, and a new online ADR reporting platform designed for easy access through Quick Response (QR) codes.

      (ii) Awards were conferred to recognise outstanding contributions in pharmacovigilance. Notably, the ADR Monitoring Centre at Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Cancer Centre, Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), received the PvPI-Patient Safety Excellence Award.

(iii) Delli Kumar T from Andhra Pradesh was honoured with the PvPI-Patient Connect Award for his dedicated contributions in strengthening ADR reporting and promoting patient safety in India.
