India Hosts 2nd BIMSTEC Young Leaders’ Summit 2025 in Guwahati, Assam.

In September 2025, India hosted the 2nd edition of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Young Leaders’ Summit from 9th to 11th September in Guwahati, Assam.


      - The summit was inaugurated by Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Governor of Assam, bringing together future leaders of the BIMSTEC region.

      - The 2025 summit was organized by the Bharat Scouts and Guides in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India (GoI). This joint effort highlighted India’s commitment to fostering youth-led regional cooperation through structured leadership and innovation-based programs.

     

Main Point :-   (i) The event witnessed participation from over 80 young leaders representing the seven BIMSTEC member nations: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. The presence of youth leaders across diverse cultural and national backgrounds underlined BIMSTEC’s role as a bridge for regional integration.

      (ii) The summit aligned with India’s foreign policy priorities of Neighborhood First, Act East, and Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions (MAHASAGAR).

(iii) Notably, the first edition of the BIMSTEC Young Leaders’ Summit was held in February 2025 at Gandhinagar, Gujarat, setting the foundation for continued youth engagement in regional policymaking.
