Amit Shah Inaugurates 2nd National ANTF Conference; Releases NCB Annual Report 2024 & Launches Online Drug Disposal Campaign.
Summit Conference
In September 2025, Union Minister Amit Shah, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Ministry of Cooperation, inaugurated the 2nd National Conference of Heads of Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) in New Delhi, Delhi. The conference focused on strengthening drug law enforcement, reviewing nationwide anti-narcotics strategies, and enhancing coordination between states and Union Territories (UTs).
- The conference was held under the theme “United Resolve, Shared Responsibility”. It served as a platform to review the effectiveness of anti-narcotics initiatives across India, including drug supply control, demand reduction, harm reduction, and national security implications.
- Union Minister Amit Shah released the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Annual Report 2024, which included seizure statistics, prosecution figures, and trends in drug trafficking. He also launched the Online Drug Disposal Campaign to enable safe disposal of unused and expired drugs nationwide.
- The conference saw participation from Heads of ANTF from 36 states and UTs, along with stakeholders from multiple government departments. Key dignitaries included Govind Mohan, Secretary, MHA; Tapan Deka, Director, Intelligence Bureau (IB); and Anurag Garg, DG, NCB, ensuring comprehensive policy-level discussions.
Main Point :- (i) Delegates conducted a detailed review of anti-narcotics measures, assessing intelligence sharing, law enforcement operations, and inter-agency coordination. The conference also discussed future roadmaps for combating drug trafficking, organized crime linkages, and emerging synthetic drug threats.
(ii) Discussions emphasized strengthening drug law enforcement frameworks, enhancing capacity-building of ANTF personnel, and improving inter-state and central coordination.
(iii) Measures for reducing drug demand, preventing drug-related harm, and addressing the implications of narcotics on national security were highlighted as key priorities.
