Centum Electronics Signs MoU with BEL for Advanced Defence Electronics Projects.

In August 2025, Bengaluru-based Centum Electronics Limited (Ltd) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Defence Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Defence, to collaborate on advanced defence electronics projects aimed at boosting India’s defence capabilities.


      - The MoU was formally signed at BEL’s Corporate Office between Suresh Kumar K V, Director (Marketing) of BEL, and Apparao V Mallavarapu, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Centum Electronics Ltd. The agreement is expected to foster strong industrial cooperation in the defence technology sector.

      - The signing ceremony was witnessed by key dignitaries including Manoj Jain, CMD of BEL, and Dr. Vinod Chippalkatti, President of Centum Electronics Ltd, highlighting the strategic importance of the partnership for both organisations.

      - The cooperation will primarily focus on the development of advanced Electronic Warfare (EW) systems, next-generation radar technologies, and secure communication solutions to strengthen India’s Armed Forces. These systems are critical for modernising India’s defence infrastructure and enhancing national security.

Main Point :-   (i) The signing ceremony was witnessed by key dignitaries including Manoj Jain, CMD of BEL, and Dr. Vinod Chippalkatti, President of Centum Electronics Ltd, highlighting the strategic importance of the partnership for both organisations.

      (ii) By joining forces, Centum Electronics and BEL aim to accelerate innovation in defence electronics, aligning with the Government of India’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India). This partnership is expected to enhance indigenous capabilities and reduce reliance on foreign technologies in the sensitive domain of defence systems.

(iii) The MoU reflects a broader strategy by the Ministry of Defence to encourage collaborations between public and private enterprises for cutting-edge solutions, ensuring India’s preparedness in modern warfare scenarios and securing technological superiority in defence operations.
