Judge Frank Caprio, affectionately known as the “Nicest Judge in the World” and star of the viral courtroom series Caught in Providence, passed away on August 20, 2025, at the age of 88 after a prolonged battle with pancreatic cancer. 


      - Serving nearly four decades as Chief Judge of the Providence Municipal Court from 1985 to 2023, Caprio gained global admiration for presiding over minor offense cases with empathy, fairness, and a folksy sense of humor that emphasized understanding over punishment.
