WADA Foundation Board Re-elects Witold Banka as President and Yang Yang as Vice President for Final Term.

Appointment

On May 29, 2025, the Foundation Board of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), based in Montreal, Canada, held a virtual meeting and re-elected Witold Banka as the independent President and Yang Yang as the Vice President (VP) for their third and final three-year term. Their new tenure will run from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2028.


      - Witold Banka is a former Polish athlete who represented Poland in the 400 metres from 2005 to 2012.

      - He won a bronze medal in the 4x400m relay at the 2007 World Athletics Championships in Osaka, Japan.

     

Main Point :-   (i) Yang Yang is a former Chinese short track speed skater and China’s first Winter Olympics gold medalist.

      (ii) At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, she won two gold medals (500m and 1,000m individual events) and one silver medal in the 3,000m relay.

(iii) WADA is an international independent agency, jointly composed and funded by the global sports movement and governments.
